All Eastern Patricia Racette in 1983.
Music teacher Richard Maynard knows star power when he sees it. "When I first heard freshman Pat Racette play guitar and sing a folk song," he remembers, "I was impressed with her voice. I immediately asked her to join the choir and the rest is history."
Patricia made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera in 1994 as Musetta in La Bohe me, and has sung major roles for the company since then. In last year's season opening of the Met's La Traviata, she sang the lead role of Violetta. Winner of the prestigious 1994 Marian Anderson Award, the soprano has also performed major roles with the Vienna State Opera, Netherlands Opera, Royal Opera at Covent Garden, Paris Opera, Boston Lyric Opera and many others. She garnered international critical acclaim in the title role of Emmeline at the Santa Fe Opera in 1996, a production which was nationally televised on PBS's Great Peiformances series.
