SEARCH STRATEGY

Definition:

A strategy is a plan of action for searching to find the information you want.

RESEARCH STATEMENT

Broad or unfocused:

Teaching about AIDS in school is good.

Narrow or focused:

Will incorporating AIDS education into the middle school curriculum reduce the spread of the disease?

KEY WORDS

Synonyms:

Words that mean the same or almost the same thing

Thesaurus:

A book that contains words and their synonyms

Related terms:

Broader and narrower concepts (Example: drug abuse, Alcoholism, Marijuana)

Variant spellings:

Words that can be spelled two ways.

Truncation:

Shortening a word to its root form (Example: comput for compute, computing, computer, or computers)
