Code of Ethics/Standards of Behavior
Students who are candidates or who become officers of their
respective classes, and officers and members of Student Council
and other school clubs and organizations, have special requirements
for behavior, ethics, academic behvaior and other standards
of personal behavior. These individuals have the responsibility
of being role models of the highest order and shall not be
allowed to serve unless the following standards are met:
Standards for Officers of School Clubs
and Organizations:
Academics:
Officers shall maintain a minimum grade of "C" in all classes. In the
event that a grade falls below a "C" in any class, the officer shall be
removed from office for a minimum of one marking period and
until all grades reach the "C" standard in all classes.
If an officer receives an "F", that officer shall forfeit the office for
the remainder of the school year.
Any officer found guilty of plagiarism/cheating shall be removed
from office for the remainder of the year.
Alcohol/Other Drugs:
Officers pledge to refrain from using alcohol and other illegal
drugs at all times. Officers specifically agree to the following:
- Attendance at parties or other gatherings, excluding family
gatherings, where alcohol is being consumed is strictly prohibited
as is the use, possession and transfer of alcohol or other
drugs.
Consequence:
Failure to adhere to this pledge shall result in the immediate
removal from office, following an investigation, for the remainder
of the school year.
- If an officer inadvertently finds him/herself at a gathering
where alcohol and other illegal drugs are being used, the
officer shall immediately leave the gathering and report the
incident to the appropriate advisor on the next school day. If
the advisor is not available, the student shall repart the incident
to a school administrator.
Consequence:
Failure to report the incident, as required, shall result in
immediate suspension from the office, pending an investigation
and determination of other disciplinary action.

Any officer shall be removed from office for the remainder of the
school year for reasons which include, but are not limited to the
following:

All officers shall be expected to fulfill all of their responsibilities
with a willing and cooperative attitude. Any officer, who in the
judgement of the advisor, is not meeting his/her responsibilities,
may after an initial verbal warning, be removed from office.
Serving in a peer leadership role is a serious responsibility. All
students who seek such positions shall be expected to treat their
responsibilities as an opportunity to serve- not an opportunity to
receive individual gratification.
Standards for Other Members of School Clubs
and Organizations:
Academics:
A member of a student organization shall forfeit membership if the
member fails more than one class a minimum of one marking
period and until the required academic standard is regained.

these standards.
Appeal Procedure:
Any appeal of a disciplinary action shall first be made to the
advisor. Only disciplinary actions which result in the removal from
office or membership for the remainder of a school year may be
