U.S. HISTORY( L-2)

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This is a full year course that will be divided into two semesters. The first semester will begin with the period of Reconstruction and continue through American involvement in World War I. The second semester will focus on the twentieth century America beginning with the Jazz Age and continuing towards the present. Students enrolling in this course must have preformed satisfactorily in level two English.
Assessment methods
To evaluate student success in meeting their outcomes we will utilize several methods of assessment. These methods include various writing activities:
- Essays: to evaluate facts, directions, and knowledge.
- Notebooks: assesses student ability to to encode information.
- Problem papers: evaluates interpretation and synthesis of information.
- Collaborative work: evaluates the ability to work with others towards a common goal and develop organizational skills.
- Objective Tests/Quizzes: assesses factual information. Special Assignments (field study, role playing, posters & collages, and other interpretative projects): assesses creatitive variables, application of knowledge and problem solving.
