ENGLISH II


The goals of this course are to have students:

  • read for meaning, information and pleasure
  • appreciate diversity in our literary heritage
  • respect the esthetics of literature
  • speak articulately
  • view critically
  • understand the writing process
  • develop an appreciation of language

The class is student centered with group work and projects being an integral part of the course. Frequent writing will be a major component with journals and essay assignments playing a significant role.

Grades are computed as follows:

  • 33% of the grade will be from quizzes, homework, classwork and short papers.

  • 66% of the grade will be from tests, projects, book reviews, major essays and class participation.

Students are informed periodically as to unit outlines, coverage, and expectations. A general course synopsis is found in the WHS catalog.
