Student Council Elections 2002-2003
The West High Student Council consists of fourteen Executive Board members and around 80 homeroom representatives. Homeroom representatives have the responsibility to attend scheduled monthly meetings and are expected to be the information network to the student body. Homeroom representatives are elected in the fall.
The fourteen positions of the Executive Board demand MUCH responsibility on the part of the student elected. The student who seeks a position on the Executive Board makes a commitment to the entire student body of West that he/she will work for the good of the school and that he/she will do everything possible to improve student life at West High School. Students interested in running for Executive Board must understand that Student Council becomes one of their MAJOR responsibilities throughout the entire school year. If a student has made a choice to be involved in a large number of other activities, then the student should reconsider whether or not he/she has the time to devote to this responsibility. Members of the Executive Board are also expected to participate in the New Hampshire Association of Student Councils.
All students running for or elected to the Executive Board positions MUST adhere to the Code of Ethics and Standards of Behavior for elected or appointed leaders of West High School adopted in April of 1999. A copy is attached to this packet. Additionally, an elected member will be required to sign an ethics and behavior contract at the beginning of the school year.
Student Council Executive Board members from sophomore through seniors are elected in a school election held in May. Freshmen Executive Board members are elected by the freshmen class only in October of the freshmen year.
