Softball
Attention Softball players- There is a brief meeting in the cafe on Thursday November 20th for anyone interested in trying out for softball this spring!
Book Club
Book Club The West Book club will be meeting after school in room 315B on Thursday, 11/20 to finish our discussion of Shadows Fall, by Simon R. Greene. New members always welcome.
Boys Basketball Players
Anyone interested in trying out for the boys Fr, JV or V Boys basketball team should attend the brief meeting after school on Friday, November 21st in room 201. Again, boys basketball meeting Friday in room 201.
West High School
Tickets are on sale all this week in the Cafe, Pd's C through G for Beth Henley's Pulitzer Prize-winning play, "Crimes of the Hearts." Show times are at 3 p.m. on Wed the 19th, and 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday the 20th and 21st. Discounts of up to 50% can be had for purchasing 4 or more tickets. Key Club
If you are interested in buying a yellow ribbon to benefit Children's Miracle Network, talk to a Key Club member this week. Wear your ribbon on Friday!
Cheerleaders
Attention cheerleaders, the winter season is about to begin. Any girl interested in cheering this winter for west should attend the meting on Monday, november 24th at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria.
Lost & Found
A few items of clothing have been turned into the main office. A girls tan button down jacket, a boys navy & gray jacket and assorted sweatshirts.

Thursday- 11/20- Fitchburg State College period B Monday- 11/24- University of Hartford period B Thursday - 12/4 - Bay State College will be in Room 210B periods A,B,C,F,G,& H. They are presenting their Ready, Set, Go program. Stop in Guidance to pick up a pass.
SNHU Partnership Program
Southern New Hampshire University is offering its High School Partnership Program for the 2008-2009 school year. In the program, students from Southern New Hampshire University come to West to assist students by hgelping with SAT Prep, peer tutoring, course selection, college selection, the college application process, and much more. Students can also get involved in doing community service by working with SNHU students on different projects. The program takes place on Tuesdays in the Library, during homeroom. If you are interested in the program, please pick up an application in the Guidance office.
Scholarships for Seniors
DEADLINE: DECEMBER 12, 2008: The Molly Stark DAR Good Citizenship Scholarship is now available in Guidance. Must be a senior who demonstrates leadership, dependability and patriotic qualities. All application materials must be returned to the guidance office. Deadline: January 10, 2009 - The United States JCI Senate Scholarship applications are now available in guidance. Must intend on going to college next fall and currently be a senior. JANUARY 15TH DEADLINE: A new scholarship is available in guidance for those students that have a parent with MS (multiple sclerosis) and will be attending college for the first time next fall. This scholarship also applies if the senior applicant has MS and is attending college in the fall. Must be a US citizen or legal resident living in the US. See Guidance for application and further information. Deadline: February 2nd, 2009 - Burger King is now offering a scholarship for high school seniors who have maintained a GPA of 2.5 or higher, work part-time of 15 hours per week, is involved in community service activities and plan to attend college in the fall. Deadline March 1st, 2009: The Union Leader Charitable Foundation is now offering a scholarship for seniors who plan to attend college or a post-secondary ed program next fall. Must be a New Hampshire resident for at least two years. DEADLINE: MARCH 3, 2009: The Ed Wentzell Child Nutrition Scholarship is now available in guidance. Must be a student who is a senior and will pursue a career in food service. Deadline, March 16, 2009: The Humane Society of the US Shaw-Worth Memorial Scholarship application is now available in guidance. Criteria is to have worked directly on behalf of animals - inspiring leadership in animal organizations, a humane attitude and past performance on behalf of animals are essential. Deadline: May 1st, 2009 - The Stephen Phillips Memorial Scholarship applications are now available in guidance. Must be a permanent resident of New England, a 3.0 GPA or higher, be involved in community and school services, have a part-time job and have good writing skills. See guidance for applications.
Papa Ginos Supports West Theatre Knights
Support West - EAT PIZZA! Papa Gino's at the Bedford Mall will donate 20% of their sales every Thursday from 4 to 9 PM to support West's participation in Scotland this summer. Coupons can be picked up in the main office, the library and guidance, or by logging onto www.theatreknights.com.
